Louisville Mayor Confirms No Body-Cam Footage in Controversial Arrest of PGA Golfer Scottie Scheffler

Shocking event prior to Fridays prior to the second round of the PGA Championship in the arrest of PGA golfer Scottie Scheffler by Louisville Metro Police Department Detective Bryan Gillis. Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg confirmed that Gillis’s body-cam was either not activated or not worn during the incident, which occurred outside Valhalla Golf Club. However, footage from a nearby fixed camera will be released.

The incident began when Scheffler, trying to avoid traffic congestion caused by a pedestrian fatality, drove into the opposite lane. Detective Gillis stopped Scheffler to give instructions, but according to the police report, Scheffler refused to comply and dragged Gillis, resulting in the detective’s injury. Scheffler’s attorney contested this account, stating that Scheffler was following another officer’s directions. Scheffler was arrested on several charges but released to compete in the PGA Championship. He later expressed condolences for the deceased and described the event as a misunderstanding. The Louisville police are conducting an internal review of the incident.
