This months meetings was all about recognitions. The council said goodbye to Larry Skaggs who will be taking his spot on the Russell County Fiscal Court after winning his magisterial race. Skaggs presented also to magistrate Larry Holt, who’s vacated seat Skaggs is taking. Holt has been on the Russell County Fiscal Court for 20 years and did not run for re-election this year. He is the 5th district magistrate which encompasses the city of Russell Springs.
The Russell Springs Fire Department presented recognition to Michael Grimsley for providing totaled vehicles for the fire department to practice extraction equipment, a total of four cars.
Mayor Thomas presented “best of” awards for floats in the annual Christmas Parade
. Property owned by Timothy Abernathy and Keith Owens was annexed into city limits. The property houses a subdivision.
John Gotch, proprietor of “The Pizza Man” restaurant housed in the Little Chop Shop building introduced himself and his newly relocated business.
The council went into executive session. Upon return Mayor Thomas was provided with the ability to negotiate the purchase or sale of property discussed in executive session.
More was discussed and accomplished through the eventful meeting.
